Memorial Day Camping!

This year, we made the mistake of camping during Memorial Day Weekend. Whoops! Haha :) It was so fun though!! Carl's parents flew out from Ohio just to go camping with the family, and it was a blast! We camped at Downata Hot Springs, in the bustling metropolis of Downey, Idaho. It was rainy, windy and cold - but I still managed to get a sunburn on my face during the 3 hours that the sun was shining. :)

Carl and I headed down to Downata (which, by the way, we discovered is pronound Down - at - a ... like I'm down at a hot spring...lol) and we were the first ones there. We stopped in Idaho Falls to pick up Brenda and Josh's tent. They were going to be getting there later and we offered to set it up for them so they wouldn't have to do it in the dark. So, we got to Downata around 4ish. We found our campsite and started setting up tents. We set up our tent, a tent for Joe and Tilda, and finally Brenda and Josh's tent. Carl and I had so much fun. We had the first two tents up in no time. The last one though...it was a little tricky. We actually had to get out the instructions! :)

Then everyone else started showing up. While we were getting everything set up, it had started to sprinkle and rain a bit. So, Joe took a tarp and hung it creatively over one of the picnic tables giving us some shelter. It was great! On the way up, Carl and I were talking about how his dad is so handy. Then we were giggling about how he didn't need any tools to start a fire, all he had to do was look at it, and there was a fire. Sometimes, all he needs to do is just think it and it's there. Sadly, when we got to the campsite, there was no fire. But, was promptly put Joe to work on the fire as soon as he arrived. :)

We swam on Saturday, it actually got sunny for a few hours, and had yummy dutch oven food that night :) Carl loved the BBQ ribs! It rained all night on Saturday, so we packed up early on Sunday morning and headed home around 8. It was freezing!! The kids were cold, and I was cranky ;) so it was nice to get in the car and turn up the heat!

It was so wonderful to have Carl's parents here with us for the weekend! The next time we see them, there will be a new addition to our family!! We can't wait!
